Phone That Is Class A1 – Xiaomi MI A1 Review

Even as we talk about mid-range phones there are some that are more affordable than the others. One would wonder how they are able to pack so much in so low a price. They don’t lack in features nor are they from companies that are new. They come with features that most people will be satisfied with.

Xiaomi has launched just such a phone. This falls in the mid-range but packs a lot of stuff. It is worth a detailed study.

MI A1 Review

The first fact is that this phone falls in the below 15000 rupees range. It makes the phone affordable for a whole lot of people. What sets apart this phone is that it is an Android One phone. That makes multitasking an easy job. This phone will probably be the first to get both the O and P updates of Android.

One of the main advantages of a Stock Android phone is that it doesn’t come with too many apps preloaded. This saves a lot of space. However, the MI A1 comes with Facebook, Mi Remote, and Mi Store.

The A1 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display. The viewing is good, and the colors appear great. The curved edges of the camera make it nice to hold.

The cameras in the MI A1 are the highlights. In the back of the phone we have a dual 12 MP plus 12 MP. The cameras are set side by side. One camera has a wide-angle lens while the other one has a telephoto lens. The picture capture is really good. The telephoto facility allows for zoom up to 2X optical zoom.

The front camera has a 5 MP resolution and comes with a beautification mode.

The phone runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. With an internal memory of 64 GB and a RAM of 4 GB the phone scores on the storage front also. The combination of the processor and the RAM ensures that the phone is fast.

The storage is expandable up to 128 GB with a micro-SD card. The card goes into a hybrid slot used both for sim and SD card. The phone takes two Nano SIMs or one Nano SIM and a micro-SD card.

The battery in the MI A1 is 3080 mAh. Even with many apps open the battery lasted for about 15 hours. This is a good performance for a phone in this price range. Another plus point with the phone is that there is no heating up even when used extensively. The phone has a USB Type C port.

THE VERDICT

For the price range that it is sold at, the MI A1 gives more than the worth of its price. The dual cameras in the rear are a real bonanza. The speed is good, and the phone is easy to hold and handle. Few things that need improvement are photography in low light and the display. In sunlight, we need to keep the brightness at maximum to be able to see anything on the screen.
