Girl From Ballari Bags Top Position In II PU Exam

BALLARI: Prooving the saying where there is a will there is a way right, Swathi S topped the II PU exams with an outstanding 99.1 percent score. She was declared the topper in arts stream in Karnataka. The girl has scored 595 out of 600 and made not only her parents but the whole village’s chest swell with pride.

Swathi is a student at Indu Independent PU College in Kottur. Interestingly the second and third topper, Ramesh SV (593) and Goravara Kavyanjali (588), of the exam are also from the very same college. This meticulous girl scored 576 out of 600 in her preparatory exams. She did expect to be one of top ten in the exam but being topper came as a pleasant surprise.

She said that she worked hard on her study and studied regularly every day without any miss. She added that she is more than happy with the results and did not expect this high marks. She got full marks in History and is elated after seeing the results.
Swathi hails from a very modest family and had to face many obstacles on her way to success. Her parents are daily wage workers and could provide only limited resource to their daughter but nothing could stop this girl from studying.

This results did not come easily to Swathi. She said that she had to prepare for her exams in kerosene lamp and mobile light as power cut is quite rampant in the village. Her parents earn hardly 300 every day. With such an income it was difficult for them to send their daughter to an English medium institution. But acknowledging the talent of Swathi college paid half of her fees.

Swathi’s mother Rathnamma, an agricultural labourer said after Swathi topped in the exam her college sent a car for them until that moment they did not realise that Swathi is the topper in the state.

She added that her dream for education never turned into reality but she made it a point to give her children the best education possible. She had to face several challenges but she is happy that her effort has paid off.

S V Ramesh who is the second topper was equally exhilarated after he heard the results. He says that his mother cried out of happiness after she heard the results. Ramesh is a resident of Agalure village, Siruguppa taluk and his village is approximately 160 km away from the college. But the distance did not matter for him. He aspires to become an IAS officer.

The third topper in the arts stream, Goravara Kavyanjali’s father is a tailor and has two more sisters. Her father wants her to become an IAS officer.
