During Memorial Day Weekend 2018 during the Month of May, the American People commemorate and honor the lives of the soldiers who sacrificed themselves on behalf of the Nation’s freedom.

This is a National Holiday dating back until after the Civil War commemorating the lives of all the servicemen and women. Most people agree that while the holiday has a somewhat dark origin, it is also about celebrating freedom, liberty, democracy, and of course, in the case of New York and its people it marks the official beginning of summer, and through New York City the Memorial Day Weekend is fully packed with ceremonies, parades, and other patriotic events.

During the Annual New York Memorial Day Parade new Yorkers and tourists from other states and Countries line up along the side of the parade route starting at Bay Ridge with a 21 Gun salute and a wreath ceremony over at John Jones Park. As a matter of fact, the New York Memorial Day Parade is the oldest in the Country featuring marching bands, bands, floats, veterans ranging from war conflicts like WWII to Iraq, and active duty military personnel.

Everyone gathers to honor the memory of the soldiers, families, patriots, and tourists at both the American Veterans Memorial Pier and the Green-Wood Cemetery. You can visit the Intrepid Sea and the Air and Space Museum and get the chance to see restored War World II Jets and Helicopters up close.

From the heart of the oldest Memorial Day Parade in the good ol’ U.S. Of A., you will be treated to all sorts of special exhibits and solemn tributes to all fallen soldiers. The New York City Memorial Day Parade offers multiple ways for you to remember, honor, and commemorate the lives of all American Soldiers who died during service.

Whether you are a bread New Yorker or you are just visiting the city for the holiday, you have to make sure to include in your list of “things to do” visiting all the different retail stores in the city which are offering some of the most amazing Memorial Day Sales ever.
