The 5th match between KKR and CSK, at a jam packed stadium at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. CSK won the toss and opt to bowl.

1st innings with KKR at the crease:

Playing XI KKR: Sunil Narine, Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik(wk/c), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Vinay Kumar, Piyush Chawla, Tom Curran, Kuldeep Yadav.

Chris Lyyn and Sunil Narine open for KKR, and are off to a start with a boundary and Narine smashing the ball for sixes, score 18 runs in the first over. At 1.3 overs Harbhajan gets Narine out and KKR are 19 for 1 but with the ball flying to the boundaries the score soars to 35 with a wicket down at four overs. The 5th over is costly with 12 runs being scored but CSK keep the fight on with Jadeja getting Lynn out at 5.2 overs.

At end of Power Play: KKR 64/2.

The next two overs KKR score sixteen runs but CSK strikes as Rana fell at 8.1 overs with Watson doing the trick for CSK. KK at 80/3.

Strategic timeout 1:

KKR lose quick wickets with Uthappa run out by Raina and Rinku Singh being caught by Bravo off Thakurs bowling. KKR at 89/5, begin to lose momentum. The 100 comes up at 11.3 overs and score 138/5 at 16 overs.

Strategic timeout 2:

Games on: Russel hits repeated sixes, CSK take a wicket with Watson getting Karthik out at 17.4 overs. At the end of innings KKR score 202/6 with Russell unbeatable at 88 of 36 balls.

2nd innings with the Kings chasing the Knights:               

Playing XI CSK: Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, Sam Billings, MS Dhoni(wk/C), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Shardul Thakur.

Watson and Rayudu open for CSK with exploding batting. At the end of 3.4 overs the half century mark comes up. KKR get their first wicket with Curran getting rid of Watson at 5.5 overs.

At end of Power Play: CSK are 75/1.

Strategic timeout 1:

Neat bowling from KKR in the next two overs giving away just 8 runs and Yadav getting out Rayudu, KKR are 85/2 at 8.3 overs. CSK score 100 at 11 overs with a six from Raina but KKR strike back with Raina caught off Narine, CSK at 101/3 at 11.3 overs. At 14 overs CSK are 128/3.

The nerve-racking six overs: CSK need 51 off 24 for a win and it’s an intense situation.

Strategic timeout 2:       

Damage done: CSK Score 24 runs in two overs, Dhoni and Billings do the damage later on.

16.1 overs:  Confusion at crease Dhoni sends back Billings. KKR strike gold, Dhoni out for 25 and Billings for 56 at 18.4 overs, its 184-5.

The last over: 17 runs needed. Fingers crossed.

19.2 overs: 6 need off 4 balls.

19.4 overs : 199/5

19.5 overs: It’s a huge six!

CSK score 205/5 and beat KKR by 5 wickets.
