Every year, on the last Monday of May, solemn activities are held in the different monuments and cemeteries to remember the American soldiers who died in combat.

In addition to remembering the fallen military, Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of the summer season, and there are multiple activities to commemorate this date.

We offer you a list of events that will be taking place from May 24 to 29, in the metropolitan area of Washington.

-Enjoy the National Memorial Day Parade, the largest parade in the United States on this date, which will feature marching bands, floats, artists and of course, veterans, to honor those who serve and have served in the army.

-Among the traditional activities of the weekend highlights the free concert of National Memorial Day on Sunday 28 at 8 pm, on the west side of the Capitol. The public can start to enter after 5 pm.

-The famous Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally brings together motorcyclists from all over the USA. to honor the prisoners of war and MIAs (Missing In Action) who served their country during the Vietnam War.

-In this weekend there will also be the Jazz Festival of the Memorial Day of Alexandria, an annual event that features a big band, contemporary jazz music and a lot of swings. Picnics are allowed for the concert and there will also be food and beverages sold there.

-Other musical experience that will celebrate the soldiers will be the National Memorial Day Choral Festival, which will have a choir of 300 voices accompanied by the Orchestra of the U.S. Airforce The musicians will unite their talents to present patriotic classics in honor of the fallen. The concert is free and will be held at the Kennedy Center on Saturday, May 27, at 2 pm.

-In the National Museum of Air and Space will present a unique exhibition this summer.

-The pools, water parks and beaches of the area officially open their doors from Saturday 27, both in DC and in Maryland and Virginia. Also on Saturday will be the water parks of Six Flags America in Largo, MD, and Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, in Williamsburg, VA.
