Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X – User Review

Available since February 2017, the Redmi Note 4x is one of the latest launches if the company with intentions to dominate the global market. With some improvements over its predecessor, this device comes in hand for those people with a limited budget but with the desire of a smartphone with good performance.

The Note 4X comes in different versions: the first is for the local Chinese market; the second edition is for global purposes and there is a third option called the international edition. They are also shown in diverse storage and memory capacity; one of these models comes with a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and the second presentation brings a 4GB RAM with a 64GB of data storage. Internal memory can be improved by using up to 128GB micro SD card.

Any of these editions are provided with a 5.5 inches screen with precise color presentation and a clear resolution. As the previous model, it is a full-HD screen (1920×1080 pixels) with a density of 401dpi with a very sensitive touch function, keeping the 2.5D curved glass layer from the line production which makes it feel smoothly and more natural than other smartphones screens.

The device performs under an octa-core processor at 2GHz with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, using the MIUI 8.1 OS based on Android 6, with the international edition carrying preinstalled some Google apps and the Play Store which cannot be found in the local Chinese version. This processor is a little lower than the Note 4; however, some features are better in the 4X such as the upgrading of the Bluetooth from 4.1 to 4.2; but some have been removed like the 802.11ac Wi-fi connectivity.

Some improvements come in the design area, keeping the metal body from the Note 4 case but replacing the plastic lines of the antenna with metallic ones. The speakers are placed at the bottom of the phone, keeping a mono speaker in the inside. The device is provided with a fingerprint sensor for security purposes.

In the photo department, there are two cameras featured in the device. The main camera is at 13MP with a dual-LED flash and HDR function in order to get better shots and great results. For the selfie fan, there is a 5MP frontal camera providing the quality expected for this purpose.

Another advantage of the phone, as most of the ones made by the Chinese company, is the dual SIM characteristics. The usage of a standard Micro SD or a Nano type is a good choice for those who handle two lines at the same time; but if there is no need of a second SIM card, the slot can be used for a Micro SD card.

The Redmi Note 4X is not a huge improvement over the Note 4, there are some downgrading in connectivity, but for a budget phone is still a reasonable choice from this company.
