First Look At Xiaomi Redmi S2 in India – Date, Price, Features

Expected features and specification of S2

Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil the Xiaomi S2 in the Indian as well as the Chinese marketplace soon and the device could be an upgraded version of the Redmi Note 5 and is aimed at the budget segment which has pretty swanky features like a dual camera setup and face unlock feature.

Camera and display:

One of the best parts to look out for in the S2 is its camera which will be equipped with either a combination of 12MP Sony IMX486 or 12MP OmniVision OV12A10 and a 5MP Samsung S5K5E8 as a rear lens which will support features like ‘Portrait’ mode and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS).

It will also feature a typical 18:9 aspect ratio LCD display, which is standard in Xiaomi phones and the screen will have a resolution of 1440×720 pixels.

Similar Connectivity when compared to previously launched Xiaomi smartphones:

The S2, as far as the connectivity is concerned, is believed to be alike to other Xiaomi models that operate on Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, with support for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and 4G VoLTE.

Good and durable Battery performance:

The Xiaomi S2 will be having a 3080mAh capacity battery which is to be quite similar to the battery of the Mi A1 and it is believed that the Xiaomi S2 will deliver long lasting battery backup.

Phone Memory and OS:

As far as software is concerned the S2 will be operating on Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9, however the precise RAM specifications of the phone is not known yet but it can be assumed that the Xiaomi S2 would have RAM options of 2GB/3GB and a 16GB and 32GB storage capacity with expandable MicroSD slot.

Cost and time of launch in India:

As far as the pricing goes, it can be anticipated that the Redmi S2 could be slightly more expensive than the Redmi 5 in the India. The Redmi 5 is priced at Rs.7, 999 for the base variant with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage, so as per the market standards the Redmi S2 might cost you Rs.8, 999 for the base variant with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage or Rs.9, 999 if a higher variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is launched.

The company is getting ready to release the Xiaomi S2 in the market after almost a month of delivering the Redmi 5 to the consumers. However the exact time period and date as to when the Xiaomi S2 is to be launched and goes up for sale are not known yet.
